My NEW Fall Wreath

I lost ALL my wreaths in the flood this summer. They were stored up very high in the garage, but the water got so high it knocked all the stuff over and down off the shelves and well...everything was soaked. So I HAD to make a new fall wreath. And, I have been drooling over all the cute wreaths on Pinterest lately so I went out and got stuff to make my own.

I started with this grapevine wreath from Hobby Lobby. It was only $3.99. Can't beat that!

I hung it over my mirror in our front room with jute. Then I used some burlap (also from HL) and made some flowers...

I added clips to the backs of the flowers so I can take them off and switch them out if I like. I'm trying to come up with something for Christmas time.

Pretty simple but that's the way I like it!

Angry Bird Cake

My son had his birthday this past week. He's very into Angry Birds and wanted an Angry Bird themed birthday. I found tons of ideas for decorations and stuff on the internet. The piece de resistance (I think) was the yellow Angry Bird cake...

I actually came up with the idea for this one all on my own. I just cut a triangle out of a 13x9 cake. I used yellow food coloring to make the white frosting yellow. I used oreo cookies and black m&m's for the eyes, red licorice for the eyebrows, orange wedge candies for the beak, and black licorice for the feathers on top of his head and the tail. Ethan was soooooo excited about it! And it made me happy that he was so excited.

Oh and I followed the tutorial at The Crafting Chicks to make the pigs...

He was one happy boy this weekend.

Easter Egg Topiaries

The other day walking through the dollar store I found a package of four glitter eggs on a sticks or picks I guess their called. I picked them up knowing I could use them for something. I also grabbed some little white buckets from the wedding section (the ones that come in a three pack). I cut down some floral foam (also from the dollar store) and used some easter basket grass I picked up on clearance last year and came up with this...

I can use them for decoration on the table...

Above the sink...

But I think I'm leaving them on the shelf in my dining area for now...

So easy. So simple. So cheap! Just what I like!
