Halloween Decor

I told myself when I was putting up fall decorations that I would wait till October till I put anything up for Halloween. Well, now that it is October my front entry way has gone from this...
Entryway with fall decor.
 To this....

Entryway with Halloween decor.
I added the black cheese cloth like material to the door, a few little ravens here and there as well as a few bats, and a couple "boo" signs. Not a lot in my opinion (probably too much in my hubby's opinion since he doesn't care for Halloween much) but I really like it.

I especially like the little ravens. I tied one to the bird cage...

I bought this cage a couple years ago and used it for a while then when we moved into this house I just let the kids play with it. They used it for their stuffed Angry Birds for a while and I reclaimed it as part of my decor over the summer.

I put another raven on top of the door...

And then the last one is sitting in the wreath on the iron wreath hanger...

I cut the bats out with my silhouette machine and put some on the wall and in the black cheese cloth. The kids like the bats. And I like how they stand out on the wall.

I also added several bats to the front door with the frame I made recently.

I have maybe one or two other small things in the kitchen, but this is really it for Halloween this year.
View of my "display" from the front living room couch.
Although I have added a couple pumpkins to the front porch, but none of them have been carved yet. We still have some time. I'll, of course, share those when we get them done. We still have to go to Papa's Pumpkin Patch in Bismark. I'm planning on taking the kids in the next week or two.

Halloween Frame Wreath

The other day when I was rummaging through my craft stash I came across an old black frame. I have been wanting to turn it into a wreath and thought it would be fun to make one for Halloween.

After searching the internet for ideas and a quick run to the dollar store I came up with this...

I got the spider web (with spider) at the dollar store and stapled it to the back of the frame.

Here's a quick view of the back.

I found the bunting online here and printed it on craft colored cardstock. I hot glued it to twine then secured it to the frame. I wrapped thicker twine around the web on the back so I could hang it on the door.

Oh and the little spider was originally white, but on the white door...you can't see it as well. Luckily I had some black spray paint in the garage to make him black instead.

This was so easy! And pretty cheap, too! I am loving it!

Switcheroo Time

So I changed my wreath again since it was set for Christmas which was this...

Now it's set for Valentine's Day I guess...

Just made some red burlap flowers to go with a white one I made when I first got the wreath.

I've put a few other Valentine-ish things up through the house, but not a lot. I know Hubby is not a fan, but I have to have a little something after all the Christmas stuff came down and everything looks so blah.

My Christmas Crafts

I love crafts. Especially Christmas crafts. I used to have a bunch of things I've made for Christmas, but as I have mentioned before, most everything, except for our Christmas tree and Willow Tree nativity (the figures only- we lost the crèche), were lost in the flood. So this year, it was almost like starting over as far as handmade holiday stuff goes.

So, I've been working on things here and there. And instead of going into the little details on each one, I thought I would just share them briefly in one post.

I made these trees with natural jute wrapped around foam cones. I think I bought all the supplies at Hobby Lobby. I had seen several ideas on different blogs and Pinterest which led me to making these. Btw, if you have not checked out Pinterest, you must! It's a crafter's dream!

The word art in the frame I found online. I love free printables and the people who come up with them and are willing to share on the internet for free.

This little block nativity I made with a scrap piece of 2x4 left over from one of Hubby's projects. I spray painted it off white, cut the black vinyl image with my silhouette cutter and then wrapped a black ribbon around it.

I got this black plate from Hobby Lobby and cut the white vinyl image with my cutter...

I have these items on top of my fridge.

This is my simple centerpiece I have on our kitchen table. I just glued cinnamon sticks (from HL) around dollar store candles and placed them in a little ceramic dish I found on clearance at Target with berry sprigs, again from HL.

This one is just like the centerpieces we made for the Hubby's squadron Christmas party which was also inspired by stuff on Pinterest. I offered to pay the wife who brought a ton of mason jars, but she let me just take a few. Apparently the lady they just bought their house from in town use to can and left all her jars in their basement and what she brought was not even close to half of what was left in the house. So I took two (the other one I had on hand), bought some little trees and wreaths from Hobby Lobby, and picked up some epsom salt from walmart and used the jute I had from earlier projects for around the lids.

I just think these are so cute.

Last craft, I promise, are these little wreaths...

I saw these on Pinterest (link is HERE) and I had all the supplies (shower rings, yarn, hot glue and ribbon) already on hand so I made them.

One I hung on my little candy jar full of red and white mints. (Oh and I made that jar- well I just glued the container to a candle stick- both were from the dollar store.)

The other wreath I have hanging from the lamp in our front room.

There you have it- my Christmas crafts. I have more on my list, just not sure when or if I will get to them. :)

My Christmas Wreath

I made this wreath a couple months ago...
Well I just made the burlap flowers to go on the grapevine wreath that I bought at Hobby Lobby. And those flowers have clips on them so I can change them out for the different seasons if I choose to do so.

This is what it looks like now for Christmas!

I found these little pinecone/berry pics with a bird at the dollar store...

and they already had a clip already on the back!

So I just took off the old burlap flowers and replaced them with two pics/clips. (I only wanted one bird so I took a bird off of the other pic.) I love that cute little red bird.

It turned out pretty good, eh? Well I think so anyway.

I still have it hanging on my mirror, too, because really I just like it there.

Knock Off Head Bands

A couple weeks ago I was shopping for clothes for Little Thing 2 and Little Thing 3 in the Children's Place. I had outfits all picked out and then picked up a couple headbands to accessorize. Little Thing 2 loves wearing headbands lately. Once I got home and really looked at one of the headbands, this one...

I realized this would be way easy and cheap to make at home!

I found these plain headbands at the dollar store... (some come in packs of two!)

And I already had these rhinestone gems on hand...

Got the good ole glue gun out and VOILÀ!

Little Thing 2 was pretty excited about these...

They probably cost me about a buck a piece compared the $3 a piece at TCP. Not bad!

Sick Day Crafts

Little Thing 2 was home sick yesterday so I did not take Little Thing 3 in to town for preschool so that meant I had some spare time, in between changing out the bags in the throw-up bucket, at home.

I reorganized my craft storage armoire and in the process decided to do some crafts.

First I covered these little holder thingies on my fridge...

And these magnets as well...

I used modge pog and scrapbook paper and made them look like this...

I found the little holders at the dollar store just before school started. I use them to hold box tops and coupons and other little things. The magnets I found at Walmart and I have the perfect size circle punch to fill the little indented circle area.
The paper I found at Hobby Lobby and it matches these other glass magnets I made a while ago.

Next, since I took down all the Halloween stuff ( I can hear the hubs saying, "THANK YOU!"- he's not a fan of Halloween) I thought it was time to have some Thanksgiving stuff up.

I found this cute printable at A Step In The Journey.

I printed it out and out it in a $ Tree frame. I made the little burlap flower and hot glued it to the frame.

I wrapped burlap with some jute rope around a glass hurricane ($ Tree) and put some ($ Tree) flowers in it.

And I moved some of our outdoor pumpkins inside...

Definitely more of a fall Thanksgiving look.

As much as I hate having a sick child at home, it gave me some down time to do these fun easy crafts.

Little Thing 2 is doing much better today, btw, and is finally keeping liquids and crackers down. She will probably be well enough to head back to school tomorrow. :)
